Neutral Fluidity & Powerful Pastels: Reiss SS12 (Erin Dress)

Earlier in the week I introduced you, Blog Reader, to the 2012 fall / winter collection from Reiss.  Back in the present day, the Reiss summer collection is filled with powerful pastels, clothes to take you from poolside to party and occasion-wear from fun to formal as well as more relaxed affairs.

I love this Erin dress from Reiss.  Not for a while has something so light and airy stolen my heart.

It has a beautiful flowing style with lines in all the right places to enhance the female silhouette.  With the addition of a slit each side of the skirt it moves with a wonderful fluidity…

A hint of geometry and an art deco feel perhaps give this dress a little retro appeal.  Here I’m wearing the dress with my Raj bracelet from JewelMint. I found it quite difficult to know how to accessorize this dress, so all suggestions are welcome!

To me this is a sweet summer dress.  It also reminds me of my recent trip to Turkey, where the colours were light and sunny and there was adventure in the air.  I felt very happy to spend some time away from Manhattan and have an adventure…. I’m already dreaming of the next one, Blog Reader :-)

Above and below, photos of Kaleici, Antalya, Turkey (no, I didn’t step into Game of Thrones but admittedly some of the ancient city ruins in the surrounding area would have worked well in the series!)

Have a lovely weekend Blog Reader! xo

Friday Lingerie Lust: Beautiful Bottoms

Delicate, vintage inspired and ultra feminine, my heart skips a little beat for Beautiful Bottoms spring collection 2012.  The colours are beautiful – a soft palette of taupe, mint green, pale pink and neutrals surround distinctive bird prints – peacock and bird of paradise.

Collections are also named after birds – Dove is a soft and romantic line of icy whites and blue-greys, the robe from which makes a perfect cover up as well as loungewear piece.  I wore this robe several times in Turkey last week, a beautiful design.  Bluebird (picture, top) is a charming colour, the shade of cornflower blue which seems perfect for tanned skins and pale complexions alike.

Peacock is perhaps the most striking from the collection, a feather print in vibrant green hues.  Bloom (below, the non padded wired comfort bra) departs from the bird theme but is very much in keeping with the rest of the collection with its nature inspired cream, lilac and pale pink floral print.

My favourite set from the collection is the Kingfisher Tie Front Bra and Ruched Knicker in vibrant electric blue (below):

There is also a very cute playsuit in the Kingfisher collection, picture (image below).

Beautiful Bottoms have created a gorgeous collection of lingerie and loungewear that is quite versatile – for the beach or the boudoir be sure to check out their full collection here.

Have a lovely weekend, Blog Reader.  I have some Turkey-related travel posts for you next week along with a look at the new autumn winter collection from Reiss – see you then! xo

StyleOnTheCouch Loves: Ritva Westenius & Aruna Seth Bridal

Hello again, Blog Reader – it’s back to StyleOnTheCouch after a trip home to London and a whirlwind tour of the beautiful south-west of Turkey. I really appreciate all of the tweets and continued comments whilst I was away – thank you.  I have several travel posts I can’t wait to share about my trip along with the fashion along the way but I’m starting with the reason I was in Turkey in the first place.  My beautiful Psychologist-friend married her fiance on the beach near the Blue Lagoon.

Although I had intended to wear a BCBG maxi for the wedding, in the end the early evening ceremony saw me do a quick last-minute switch and wear instead my black Von Vonni Transformer Dress.  You might have seen this dress on the blog before when I was trying out the different ways in which to style it – the somewhat Grecian style draping just lent itself perfectly to the wedding setting.

The beautiful bride wore a gorgeous gown from London label Ritva Westenius.  This mother and daughter team have a heavenly collection of classic bridal gowns and I adored my friend’s choice.

Her shoes were by Aruna Seth – the Colette Ivory Satin Wedges.  Perfect for dancing the night away….. (belly dancing and flame twirling also featured at the wedding – we Psychologist types are rarely boring*.)

After the wedding I had a little time to recover before meeting another friend and setting off to explore some of the coastline around the location of the wedding.  More posts to come, but this little piece of romance to start the journey.

Many thanks to my friends for letting me use their images here xo
