Friday Lingerie Lust: (Back) Between The Sheets

Last year I introduced you, Blog Reader, to lingerie and loungewear brand Between The Sheets.  I had a preview of designer Layla L’obatti’s Arabesque collection last summer and it is now available to buy; a beautiful vintage-inspired range of luxury silk and hand cut lace with velvet trim (picture above and two below).  The silk bralette and tap pant design comes in the rich shades maroon red ‘fig‘, ‘lagoon‘ blue and my personal favourite, a delicate peachy ‘lotus‘ colour – very romantic and with the seductive illusion of nudity.

This fall, Between The Sheets have built on signatures such as the ouvert high waist knicker and introduced a new petal lace (images immediately above).  I own some of the current Between The Sheets Birds of Play collection and these designs are great for weekend lounging.

New sleep wear additions complete fall 12/13.  The image below left is of the PlayDream pajama set, a perfect style for lounging or heading to the land of nod.  I like that Between The Sheets are functional and flattering, that they use rich fabrics and have a lovely variety underneath their brand umbrella.

Do check out Arabesque, available on the site to buy now.

All that remains, Blog Reader, is for me to pirouette off into the Manhattan skyline.  I have photoshoots galore this weekend – I’m going to be selling some of my wardrobe on Threadflip in the near future – and I have some outfits in the works to share.  These include my new latex skirt from the amazing Atsuko Kudo (you may have seen Lady Gaga in her designs) and favourites from Alice Yim‘s summer collection. Until then.. Friday Lingerie Lust: Between The Sheets

Between The Sheets is a gorgeous and highly flattering mix of lingerie and lounge wear created by designer Layla L’obatti.  Working in partnership with her boyfriend and business parter Josh, together this design team have fashioned beautiful intimates.

I want to highlight the two Between The Sheets collections that are new for Fall 2011.  Firstly, the Arabesque collection (pictures above) a mix of satin, silk, lace folds and velvet bows, timeless pieces inspired by the golden era of film. The description of Arabesque also captures the influence of both Eastern and Western cultures on the design, designs created for the modern woman with her ever shifting desires…

“There once was a girl who danced on the sand… on a midnight rendezvous with her lover in a foreign land…”

My favourite colours in this collection are the bold blues and the creamy whites.  I love that many of the items have a modern feel with a vintage twist – I was lucky to have the opportunity to preview Arabesque recently, where the satin lace and stretch velvet bralette and pants caught my eye, here below:

The second new collection for Fall is Phoenix.  I was so taken with the photoshoot for Pheonix; the feather lace and mesh designs are shown in a very natural setting:

Phoenix is for me a very versatile and easy to wear collection.  My favourite pieces here are the high waisted pants and the bodysuits, but even the lace leggings won me over, I think they could easily be worn on on a lazy weekend, to pilates… countless opportunities spring to mind…

I urge you, Blog Reader, to check out the Between The Sheets website to view all the collections because I am certain you will find one to suit you, your needs and also your personality! You can find a list of stockists here, but if you have any questions then drop Layla an email via her website – I find her so enthusiastic about her designs it’s quite infectious (I’m sure she’ll point you in the direction of some fabulous lingerie) and my love for her creations is growing all the time.

Thoughts on Between The Sheets, Blog Reader?

Friday Lingerie Lust: Marika Vera

I’ve selected a very feminine and sensual ‘Lingerie Lust’ this Friday, probably inspired by the steamy humidity in NYC.  I love the mood captured within the promotional images for these designs by Marika Vera and can’t wait to get my hands on one of these pieces that are due to hit stores in October.

I’m always interested in the philosophy behind lingerie designs.  Marika Vera, whose strapline is “better than naked” (I love this) speaks of high quality designs for the modern woman who seeks a natural approach to sensuality.  Delicate and minimalistic designs aim not to compromise the erotic elements of the garments – I think they have this spot on.

My favourite item from the 2012 collection is the Caroline stretch tulle bodysuit.  Made using 100% stretch silk satin straps, satin elastic binder and leather detail – that is one chic bodysuit I am coveting….

You can find lots of inspiration and quotes about femininity on her tumblr which I’m a big fan of for its collection of images about seduction, women’s freedom and power:

Would Marika Vera make it into your personal lingerie collection?
