I left LFW yesterday, Blog Reader, having attended the Holly Fulton show at ME London and catching up with the lovely Notting Hill Girl and South Molton Street Style.  It was so interesting being at London Fashion Week rather than New York this season – London has multiple show venues which seems to bring a unique and exciting energy to the proceedings, yet as a result it doesn’t quite feel as polished at the events at the Lincoln Center.  There certainly feels like more individuality on the streets however; a greater display of colour and mixing of trends in attendees in contrast to the uniform sleekness of Manhattan (which, I must say, I love the place for!)

After a few days running around London in heels, seeing both new and established designer collections emerge, meeting some of my favourite blogger friends and arranging other catch-ups then stolen over coffee, I find myself with a few days to relax.  In between fashion week and moving home for a new job I’m all about lounging.  I’ve even hung up my harnesses for a while, Blog Reader :)

This is where sporty sweaters and skinny jeans come in, and a cup of Earl Grey at that.  Here are more of my blogger off duty favourites:

Reiss Lupo Apricot Neon Trim Jumper, 89 GBP

Ash Wedge Trainers, 185 GBP

Lounge Lover Asymmetric Trouser, 119 GBP

Anything by Zoe Karssen….

Paige Denim boyfriend jeans and

Mango basic tees, from 14.99 GBP

With thanks to William Williams for the photos.  ‘Normal’ fashion blogger service will resume on Thursday!

Graphic Tees, Fashion Blogging, Passions & Friendships

I have to credit this blog for two key things.  First of all this blog is a wonderful hobby, a base from which I can research and live my passion for fashion and style.  I remain a Psychologist and doctor first and foremost (a side of me you don’t often see here because the blog’s purpose was to give me an interest away from this other great love of mine).  The second is friendships.  As StyleOnTheCouch has grown I’ve been fortunate to make new friends not just in England and the US but across the world.  Amazing.

In this feature I’m joined by my blogger friend the lovely Christina of Profresh Style.  Christina’s blog is full of personality and colour.  She’s one of my favourite examples of a writer who puts her heart and soul into her blog – check out her recent post on her changing attitudes to fashion blogging here.  We worked independently at styling graphic tees for this and came out interestingly coordinated as a result! I wish I could claim credit for my own styling however my tee is borrowed from our photographer the lovely Lydia Hudgens.

Whilst I’ve often thought my blog could easily be named ‘Sarah’s Dresses’* I realize that I feel just as at home in my staple of skinny jeans and a tee.  As my wardrobe moves further towards being entirely that of black, white and denim, these photos are a nice reminder to me to explore my casual side more, here.

I’m heading back to NYC tomorrow for a visit, Blog Reader.  You can follow my antics on Twitter (@StyleOnTheCouch) and Instagram (same name) but you can also check back for my September fashion week series which will continue whilst I’m in Manhattan.

Thank you to Christina for joining me in this post, to Lydia Hudgens for the photos and as always, thank you, Blog Reader, for stopping by.

*Okay okay you know I missed out the vast lingerie section there.  ‘Sarah’s Smalls’ then.

New York, I Love You (& Further Adventures…)

I’m packing up my East Village apartment this week, Blog Reader.  There is a lot of travel ahead – First things first, I’m starting with a trip back home to London (bit of a last minute thing, I know, I know).  I’m excited about returning back home again for a break.  I hope you stay with me for these adventures in London and beyond.

I’m not one for huge long goodbyes. I tend to subscribe to the wisdom of Carrie Bradshaw:

“After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But it’s comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart… and if you’re very lucky, a plane ride away.”

I am very fortunate to have met so many amazing people here in NYC.  You all know who you are, and you made me feel very welcome.  Thank you – I will miss you!*

I have also truly loved living in the East Village, Manhattan.  Though we are perhaps not as trendy as our West Village counterpart there are a heap of amazingly cool bars, places to eat and boutiques to shop in.

Right now, Blog Reader, it’s all about #TeamGB.  There is a lot of inspiration from my homeland for this current blog post**, seen in my cute Forever21 Union Jack tee in grey, gold and black.  Yet worn with my skinny jeans from Artistic Fabric Mills and chunky All Access heels from Nine West, there is a little America here too.

I previously wrote some reflections about blogging and personal development, but I also think a lot of changes that I have encountered these past eighteen months have happened because of moving to a different country and experiencing a different culture.  I’ll leave more of these learnings for another time, but mostly America is an amazing place with a great attitude of how to live with hope and possibilities.  I’m a huge fan of that way of living.

I’m heading to Top Of The Rock tonight to take in all of Manhattan.  Hope you have a fabulous weekend, Blog Reader!!

*Not really a goodbye, I hate goodbyes and I will be back for a New York visit in September.

**The hair is undeniably NYC. When you come to Manhattan, you get sleek, not frizzy. England you’d better have good weather in store for me!
