Jumpsuit for Joy: Shona Joy

ShonaJoy-jumpsuit4Certain fashion events, like Fashion Weeks, once required meticulous outfit planning. These days I go by the mantra less is more: Less layers to peel off when trying to squeeze into your seat. Less accessories to chink together at that awkward moment when the audience falls quiet and pauses for the show to begin. Less hassle for attracting street style photographers (though attendees who dress for that, and I am sure that some do, I salute you).

For last month’s Reykjavik Fashion Festival I wore my new Shona Joy Jumpsuit for the day of catwalk shows – her signature one-piece; bustier style with fitted bodice and wide leg pants.  Worn simply with my blush pink oversized coat, it was a perfect simple, non-fussy style solution, providing warmth and comfort in the Icelandic cold but making me feel tall (jumpsuits really do appear to elongate your torso) and elegant all day long.

I’ve featured one-pieces on my blog since the very beginning – from tailored to more relaxed styles.  I’m currently seeing some wonderful jumpsuits cropping up all over the high-street like this elegant wear-it-several-ways Gracie design from Whistles to the holiday-inspired Kailasa version from Ted Baker.

If you haven’t tried a one-piece yet, do give it a go!

With thanks to the team at RFF for my show tickets.
