A&VD_lingerie_5Arsenic et Vieilles Dentelles is lingerie as second skin. A lovely email from A&VD designer Laure Hurlet found its way to me earlier this month, and I am very pleased to show her debut collection, released in July 2013, on StyleOnTheCouch.

Let us be clear, Blog Reader, when A&VD say ‘lingerie is arsenic’ you know you are in for a collection with deadly appeal.  A small but perfectly formed capsule range of sheer and soft cup bras, briefs and thongs is for women who want to wear beautiful lingerie everyday.  Hurlet believes that through lingerie women can compose, have fun, expressed their personalities and be able to reveal their own sensuality. A perfect match with the ethos of my Friday Lingerie features, A&VD comes complete with a manifesto declaring allegiance to Slow Fashion, based on the principles of sustainable fashion – celebrating unique style and encouraging the education and promotion of responsible consumption.

My favourite piece from the collection is the Dixie Lee Pea brief - a beautiful high waist style made from sheer fabric with button up detail at the back. The collection also includes a cheeky rope tie – a perfect accessory for a wickedly seductive line.

Friday Lingerie Lust: Fleur of England – Tiger Collection

The autumn winter line 2012 from Fleur of England features five new dazzlingly provocative collections each exuding a very different mood.  Show here, Tiger is a striking red colour –  symbolizing sex, passion and power.  Lace with tiger stripes is combined with sheer panels of Italian tulle, blaze silk and gold fittings.

My favourite piece from this collection is the innovative camisole with suspender (image above and last)  It has a flattering racer back and lace / sheer front with a sweetheart style shape around the neckline where the lace patterning begins. I’m already seeing this as outerwear potential, styled underneath denim and perhaps with a blazer.

A padded balcony bra and brief (image above) and plunge bra and thong complete the collection.

Other new designs include Berry Kiss (romantic), Dotty (playful), Pandora (fiercely feminine) and the luxurious Snow Queen (to be released).  The latter is described to me as an elegant world of winter whites, decadent with a timeless touch. This series includes a boudoir gown and playsuit – I’ll be posting this collection fit for royalty later in the year, just in time for the holiday season, Blog Reader.

Friday Lingerie Lust: Maison Close

I first read about lingerie brand Maison Close on some of my favourite blogs before I stumbled across their designs in that little gem of a lingerie boutique ‘Azaleas‘ in the East Village, NYC.  I’ve featured them before as a Friday Lingerie post and with four new collections ready to tantalize and seduce, it’s time to feature them again.

If you are looking for lingerie that is well priced, comfortable and enormously sensual, Maison Close is perfect for you.  The brand is committed to the game of love: erotic, chic and refined.  From their lookbook:

Maison Close shows pride in its commitment to a peculiarly French style of love games in which gallantry and naughty pleasures form a perfect blend. The brand plays with the notions of control and submission, secrecy and revelation, retention and ecstasy, with each successive collection avoiding the pitfall of vulgarity and showy exhibitionism.”

New collections include Villa Satine in black (second image) available now and Exquise Allure, (image top) available to purchase from January on the Maison Close website.  I very much like how the simplicity of the set in the very first image translates into such an alluring (naturally, given the name) design – having previously brought out Pavillon Bellevue in ivory, I was pleased to see the label include these styles in particular in the new collection.  A bodysuit and long sleeved dress complete the series.

I own several Maison Close designs and some of their accessories too, which I feel make perfect gifts – they are presented in elegant purple boxes almost the colour of Milk Tray**.  Affordable and attractive, how can you resist?

You can purchase Maison Close direct from their website. Also from Faire Frou Frou, Shop Des Createurs, Coco De Mer and Journelle.

*Oo la laaaa indeed.

**This comment may only be relevant for my UK readers. You’ll just have the Google the Milk Tray man, Blog Reader.  Or think James Bond, bringing you chocolate. Yes, one can dream…
