Lace & Flowers: Lover The Label

LoverTheLabel-dressWork, holiday planning and the inevitable pre-holiday fitness regime has kept me busy and away from blogging this week. American husband and I spent hours looking at some of our favourite European locations yesterday, and I think we’ve found the perfect getaway for some rest and relaxation in September (!!).

There is so much I want to write about the area around my new home and I could pen an entire (other) thesis on my summer sale finds… but for the moment, whilst I gather myself this weekend for a lot of (late) blogging ahead, I’m returning to a much written about brand, Australian label Lover.

I’ve come to understand there is both a ‘look’ and a ‘feel’ to wearing Lover the Label.  If you own a piece from Lover, I am sure you will agree with me.  Synonymous with Sydney chic, Lover staples are tailored jackets, high waisted shorts and of course, my favourite, their lace dresses. Never in doubt of choosing Lover for my wedding dress (Part III of White Magick is now available) I found this little number on Ebay some time ago.  A bargain bid won me this beautiful style and that bargain factor makes me smile even more when I wear it.

Since there are a lot of posts in the pipeline, Blog Reader – here is a little snapshot of what is to come.  Some truly stunning bag designs from Stacy Chan (one of the only designers I want to wear pink for), beautiful bodysuits from Bradamant and the perfect tuxedo shirt from J Crew. Stay tuned!

Beautiful Things Have a Momentum of their Own…

Some days are made for dancing, and some dresses are made for dancing too. This beautiful design from Australian brand Lover has provided me with plenty of opportunities to twirl away to my heart’s content, with its flared skirt and little capped mesh sleeves.   Lover really do have a wonderful grasp on beauty – their website reads “Beautiful things have a momentum of their own“.

Regular readers may remember that Lover was my designer of choice for my wedding dress last year; and soon-to-be-brides may be interested to know that they recently brought out the third part of their stunning ‘White Magick‘ collection (if you are looking for an alternative to a traditional dress, look no further).

From romantic and ethereal to loud and irreverent, no-one creates dresses quite like Lover do.

Lover The Label Rosebud Skirt: Lace & Cashmere

Lover-the-label-rosebud-skirt-styleonthecouchIt’s been a very busy week, Blog Reader. I’ve been job seeking, house hunting, soul searching… I’m going through another series of transitions (which for some reason always starts with a new hairstyle) and feeling excited about change again.

When transitions occur I find that I stick faithfully to my fashion favorites; those styles that make me feel the most comfortable and myself (likely an attempt to balance the sea-change that is ahead).  This Rosebud skirt from Lover the Label was a wonderful investment two years ago. If I’m ever worried about what to wear and I need to strike that not-too-formal-but-I-really-do-want-to-feel-and-look-good balance then I wear this lace number.  Somewhat of a Lover signature, you can shop similar styles here and here.

My fashion favorites aren’t always contemporary pieces, I have just as much love for comfortable fabrics and basic styling.  This cashmere sweater from James Perse was borrowed from American husband – he may not get it back given how soft and warm it is….

So today I’m believing in the person I want to become.  Which is a good start to the week, wouldn’t you say Blog Reader?
