London Travels StyleOnTheCouchI have, Blog Reader, just returned home from a lovely weekend in London.  I stayed at The Royal Horseguards Hotel on the river Thames –  perfectly positioned for hopping here there and everywhere in the city which is why I’d recommend it if you are ever in need of a fabulous place to stay.  London was my home for over ten years but as with all cities so much changes…. here I’ve put together some of my top travel tips based on the things I did this weekend. Check them out if you are nearby!

Wahacha South Bank – Mexican restaurant complete with tequila bar at the back. Eat (and drink) here at your peril.

Selfridges department store – this place will remain my London shopping mecca forever.  My favourite parts of the store: the shoe galleries and their denim hall. (I’ll be writing a post soon about my hunt for the perfect pair of denim skinnies so check back if you are interested in reading!)

& Other Stories – a new addition to London’s South Molton Street, & Other Stories is the new premium high-street brand from the H&M group.  It’s more youthful than COS, H&M’s other counterpart, yet with pretty similar prices.  What I was particularly impressed with was their lingerie collection (like my blogger friend Anna said I would, Anna you were so right!) and their accessories range.

The Dean Street Townhouse - one of my favourite places for brunch, lunch, dinner and everything in between.  The English breakfast here is really tasty and the perfect fuel for shopping.

Sassoon Salon – A trip to London isn’t the same without a visit to Sassoon to get my hair back into shape.  This visit I talked to the salon about summer hair; conditioning tips and hair styles that I’m looking forward to bringing you soon.

I hope you had a lovely weekend, Blog Reader!  This week I am posting another of my little black dress (with a twist) series and want to introduce you to a new collection I adore… until then, StyleOnTheCouch xo

WoodWood The Shop At BlueBird Opening StyleOnTheCouch

It is, Blog Reader, a week of much activity as I’m currently in London to attend some of the shows and events surrounding London Fashion Week.  Hence there is no lingerie focus today and instead I’m posting a few snapshots of the things I’ve been up to since I arrived.  It is beautiful weather here in the city for the first day of LFW – Zoe Jordan opened with her autumn winter collection for 2013/14 in the Courtyard Space at Somerset House, a delightful mix of bold bright colours, structured separates and metallics which were my favourites.  I particularly liked the bodice style tops, a little warrior princess, a little androgynous too.

I also had the opportunity to visit the new space within The Shop at Bluebird dedicated to Scandinavian clothing brand Wood Wood with my friend Anna from South Molton St Style, as well as previewing the new I.D. Sarrieri lingerie collection at Cafe Royal, a fitting location for this luxury brand to show their new designs.  I.D Sarrieri’s pieces seem so much more beautiful in reality than they appear in their lookbook, something I would have thought impossible yet the styles embellished with Swarovski elements really dazzle…!

A visit to the new Cambridge Satchel Company store in Covent Garden, a browse in one of my favourite high street retailers Reiss and previewing designs from Kzeniya, Christopher Waller and Muriee means I already have plenty to write about when this week is over. Waller in particular is a great new find for me.

I’ve missed attending the New York shows and events this year, but I’m enjoying exploring London’s talent again.  You can check out the full London Fashion Week line up here.

Sass & Bide Accessories

One of the advantages of staying with my blogger friend South Molton St Style this week has been the opportunity to raid Anna’s wardrobe* (rubs-hands-with-glee).  Last week I was looking for something to add a little oomph to a monochrome outfit and Anna suggested I try on her rope and gold / orange metal necklace from Sass & Bide.  You may remember Sass & Bide from my recent fashion week review; here I am going to focus on their accessories because I think this is something the brand does particularly well.  Below are my top picks from their current collection:

Clockwise from top left: The Over And Out necklace; Over & Over Again belt; Serpentine clutch; Complete Control cuff, The Stranded collar capelet and the Three Seconds harness (yep, there had to be one of these in here, Blog Reader!)

I like Sass & Bide’s accessories because they really do transform an outfit in the label’s signature style and are perfect if you cannot afford their clothing range.  The capelet for example can be worn over a simple white vest and with your favourite denim to great effect; as for the harness, just refer to my previous posts here and here!  Another example of a Sass & Bide body piece worn well is from my blogger crush Vahni of Grit & Glamour.  Like me she keeps the harness-accessorised outfit simple and I like how she emphasizes the leather by adding cuffs and knee-high boots to her ensemble.

You can purchase Sass & Bide accessories via their eboutique.  ASOS stock select pieces from the brand – Harvey Nichols and Net-A-Porter are also stockists.

Wearing: Necklace, Sass & Bide; Lovely Ever After Soft Tee, Naked Princess.  Shorts, Finders Keepers.  Stop boots, Carvela.  Thank you to South Molton St Style for the photos.

*Yes, of course with her permission. Well, most of the time :)
