This very pretty lingerie collection is from luxury label Ayten Gasson.  Made from the softest, shimmering silk fabrics and unique vintage trims, spring summer 2013 is a delicate mix of styles with a decadent appeal: kimono style bed jackets, lace-kissed playsuits and soft-cup bras.

Ayten Roberts is both designer and founder of Ayten Gasson lingerie.  A graduate from Central Saint Martins, London in 2004, she quickly became disillusioned with the manufacturing industry in the UK.  Finding that many of the factories she knew in England had closed and moved their design operations overseas, she worked to support the British fashion industry by using only small production units in London, Nottingham and Wales to make her collections.  Roberts is also committed to ethical and sustainable practice and recently launched an eco-friendly line.  Cruelty free ‘peace silk’ and organic silk also feature regularly within her collections – there is a lovely interview with the designer on The Lingerie Addict about her inspirations and ethical approach.

What appeals to me about this line for spring is its slinky look and feel and the vintage flair which comes across in these images.  It makes me think of the era of Downton Abbey – I think Lady Mary would be more than at home with this silk teddy and garter as her foundations!

During my recent trip to Paris I had the fantastic opportunity to visit lingerie and boudoir accessories boutique Mise En Cage, the only one of its kind in the city.  Amidst a beautifully chic Parisian apartment filled with antique furniture and retro modern leather chairs and sofas, founder and owner Florence Abelin and her team offer visitors a targeted and private shopping experience.  This intimate space gives prospective buyers the opportunity to explore the excellent range of products Florence has curated – couture lingerie collections, ready-to-wear inspired lingerie and boudoir accessories are displayed temptingly throughout the salon.

You can find some of my favourite brands at Mise En Cage.  Bordelle, Lascivious, Paul Seville (famous corset maker to Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood) and Tamzin Lillywhite (whose Pony Ear Bridle, exclusive to Mise En Cage, I am wearing in this post.)

I also come across some delightful new finds during my visit!  Tania Zekkout is an accessories designer whose creations fashionably blur the line between fetish and stylish.  I love her collarsmade from a mix of leather and muslin. Murmur are a brand who I will feature on StyleOnTheCouch soon.  Attracted to their beautiful bodysuits and bras, Murmur creates daywear and eveningwear for women, viewed through the lens of a powerful eroticism.

You can also find some wonderful gifts at Mise En Cage, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

To make an appointment with Florence at Mise En Cage click here for details about visiting the salon.  Not in Paris? Happily you can shop Mise En Cage online.

With thanks to William Williams for the photos.

For spring summer 2013, Marika Vera‘s David Lynch inspired collection ‘Welcome To The Rabbit Hole’ takes us on a journey around Twin Peaks, winding through Mulholland Drive and down his Lost Highway.  A celebration of Lynch’s female characters, Vera has designed an elegant and mysterious collection for spring 2013.  I’m a fan of Lynch’s Twin Peaks – in this and his movies his female characters are complex and unique.  Vera captures this using rich colours, deeply sexy sheer fabrics, cut outs and powerful high-cut shapes.

Some of the designs within the spring range are adorned with beautiful swarovski crystal buttons – a collaboration between the brand and Swarovski Elements.

“In the grand design, women were drawn from a different set of blueprints.”  Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks.
