Day to Night Elegance: PINGHE

Pinghe-peplum-waistcoat-detailsI recently had the pleasure of collaborating with PINGHE, and will be sharing my favourite ‘day to night’ designs from Chinese born, London-based designer Ping’s stunning and impeccably crafted collection over the next few weeks.

In this, the first of three posts for PINGHE, I’m wearing their Victoria Laser Cut Sleeveless Top and slim fit trouser.  A leather jacket is often viewed a wardrobe staple, but for a more directional capsule closet you might consider this peplum style vest, worn with a pair of slim fitting pants or pencil skirt – sun up or sun down.

Ping He’s signature style derives from her love of architecture; structured silhouettes combined with eye-catching details form the collection’s aesthetic. Employing contradictory concepts, her collection sees soft and strong, elegant and powerful elements, expertly blended in subtle, neutral hues. Ping designs for women and ensures that her clothing truly empowers and flatters.”

The mix of fabrics and textures from PINGHE is one of the things I like about the brand. Also their darkly elegant aesthetic – Ping worked within Alexander McQueen before starting her own label and I wonder if some of this influence and similar design ethos shines boldly through.  See the collection in full at PINGHE.COM

Friday Lingerie Lust: Lingerie Inspiration

Jason Wu Leather pants lace top lingerie as outerwear inspiration styleonthecouch

Paul Seville Tufi Duek StyleOnTheCouch Lingerie Lust Inspiration

Zac Posen Fortnight Lingerie Pastel Lingerie Inspiration StyleOnTheCouchThis week’s Friday Lingerie Lust is a round up of my current inspirations and obsessions. First up, my continuing love affair with leather and leather accessories, with Paul Seville being high up on the most coveted list. Seville’s creations; belts, harnesses and accessories are made from an exotic selection of leathers such as snakeskin – all hand finished to appear vintage-y with a fantasy feel. (Think Game of Throne’s Queen of Dragons).

Peachy, pinky pastels are very much in vogue right now.  I’m rather inspired by this bra and pencil high waist skirt look by Jason Wu, whose recent collections have mixed leather body accessories with fairytale gowns, a striking combination.

Finally, I continue to add lingerie-as-outerwear inspiration to my pinterest boards.  Zac Posen’s line for SS13 was a delightfully glamorous display of tulle and chiffon designed for women ‘to find joy and power in dressing’.  I’ll take that as a mental note for choosing my underpinnings, thank you Mr Posen!

Hope you find some lovely inspiration here this Friday, Blog Reader.

Fleet Ilya Suspender Leg Harness - StyleOnTheCouch - William Williams Photography

Currently showing their amazing designs at Paris Fashion Week, London-based brand Fleet Ilya are continually innovating with their hand crafted leather accessories; from bags to visors to corsets to harnesses for the body.  This suspender leg harness, from ‘restraint’ which blurs the line between leather bondage and high fashion, has adjustable belt straps across the waist, legs and on the suspender attachments to make it the perfect fit for my body.  A bold piece, I’ve been wearing it over my high waisted jeans and with a simple tucked-in tee, as well as with a tee flowing out just over the top of the jeans to reveal the suspender straps below.

Many fashion designers for both spring summer and autumn winter 2013 took cues from bondage and fetish for their collections.  If you are looking for accessories in this vein that are fun and sexy, go take a look at Fleet Ilya. For more images of their autumn winter campaign click here (you may spy this suspender piece in red…)

You can see further examples of Fleet Ilya on my site: here styling their Diamond body piece and here a leather cuff. I’m such a fan of the brand, visiting their showroom is a delight (many pieces they design are not listed on their website, so if you have something in mind it is worth calling them.)  Many thanks also to Resha and the team at Fleet Ilya for getting this piece to me so quickly after I saw it in their showroom. I adore it!
