Karolina Laskowska Lingerie StyleOnTheCouchI get very excited when lingerie-loving friends let me know about their new finds! My friend and fellow blogger Lindsay, who you may recognise from her guest posts before on StyleOnTheCouch, told me about Karolina Laskowska earlier this year.  A wonderful synergy between fashion and lingerie, Laskowska told me this about her brand:

“I adore blending concepts of eroticism, luxury and lingerie as outerwear.  Most of my pieces can add an edge to outerwear, whether worn on top of a vest top or visible under a sheer blouse.  They’re equally as stylish but a lot more naughty in the bedroom!  I adore bespoke work too – designing one-off pieces for individual customers, using the finest French couture laces and silks. I’d like to introduce those sorts of materials and more colour into my ‘ready-to-wear’ line and I’m planning to develop that this Summer”

What I particularly admire about Laskowska’s designs are the way in which they blend elements of the fetish with feminine accents and materials.  For example, the soft ribbon on the Wiktoria harness and the ivory lace trim on the Kaja leather cuffs.

Laskowska’s collection includes a playsuit and accessories (cuffs and garters). You can view more images and read more about the brand HERE.

Waist Not: Urban Outfitters, Reiss and Fleet Ilya

I am, Blog Reader, a total convert to high-waisted styles these days.  These blue high rise cigarette jeans from Urban Outfitters, gifted to me at UO’s fall BDG denim event this summer are being worn again and again.  A cotton and spandex mix to give that extra stretch; they are comfortable, flattering and long enough so you can wear them with heels.

You absolutely have to go for a tucked-in style of top with these jeans.  Cropped if you are brave enough – either way high-waists are about showing your waist off.  There are some lovely reviews of these jeans on the Urban Outfitters site about their fit for women of different shapes and sizes too, so check it out if you’re wondering if these will work for you.

My love of Fleet Ilya knows no bounds and their corner studded cuff in nude here makes a perfect compliment to this outfit.  I visited the Fleet Ilya showroom back in London last month – the team there are wonderfully creative and helpful and I can’t wait to show you some of their new leather products for fall. They assisted me in finding a new harness style, a big trend for spring summer if Jason Wu and BCBGMaxAzria are anything to go by.

The clutch in this post was a gift from a friend – from Reiss, who always have a great collection of accessories and bags, especially the oversized tote variety (e.g. here), which are my favorites from their current collection.  It makes my outfit red white and blue, kind of appropriate for my straddling of style and cultures each side of the Atlantic right now.

I’m back in NYC this week Blog Reader and enjoying being back in Manhattan so much!  Tomorrow I’m shooting some fall styles with Lydia Hudgens (who shot the images here) and finishing off my New York Fashion Week series for you, before I move on to review my favourites from London, Paris and Milan.  Hope you are having a great weekend xo

Wearing: Denim from Urban Outfitters.  Top and clutch, both Reiss.  Sandals, Nine West.  Cuff, Fleet Ilya.

Hell For Leather.

I first saw these Tom Gunn Penn heels back in September when I met designers Gabrielle Thompson and Shannon Gunn at Caspule.  They invited me to their preview event in NYC where I saw their full autumn / winter collection, a unique series of shoes, all individually styled, created from mixed textures and contrasting colours.  The bone / orange colours are unlike anything I own in footwear, so it took me a while to get the styling right in terms of what to pair them with.

Here I’m back to black – in an outfit I’m most likely packing for the UK next week. These Gap skinnies and my J Crew Blythe Blouse are probably the most versatile pieces I own.  The silk blouse is available in some amazing colours – a ‘bright sun’ neon yellow, vibrant ‘marrakech purple’ and a hot pink ‘neon rose’ but you know me, Blog Reader, I own alabaster and black and that’s perfect for my style.

This is one of my favourite weekend outfits.  My bag here is by The Frye Company, who do a lovely set of messenger bag styles – this Cameron Crossbody fits a tablet and all the daily necessities in an attractive antique leather style.  It’s the perfect partner for my leather cuffs, which are finally relaxing a bit after some wear.

I also think, Blog Reader, this outfit might just prove that five months into my mission to accessorise, accessorise, accessorise, I might just have cracked it.  Belt? Check.  Bag? Check. Cuffs? Check (check). Sunglasses? Check.

Mission no longer impossible. Mission = completed.

Any fashion goals for you this year, Blog Reader?
