Friday Lingerie Lust: Meg at Midnight

New lingerie label Meg at Midnight has taken inspiration from the 1920s for its first collection of vintage inspired pieces for smaller-busted women.  Created in cup sizes AA to B, ‘Else‘ features delicate, dark coloured lace cut in ways to flatter the curves of smaller figures.

Designer Megan Leung felt there was a gap in the market for a brand that produced beautiful and well fitted lingerie for small-chested females:

“There are plenty of lingerie brands out there catering for big-busted women which is great!  But I have yet to see elegant, luxurious lingerie for small-busted, even flat chested women, who often feel they are not feminine enough.  Such is the stigma for these women that the intimate apparel industry often offer padded bras or bras with fillers to encourage the effect of a smaller bosom.”

By offering an alternative – grown up intimate-wear that would enable women to feel sexy, sensual and also love their bodies, Megan has produced a collection that aims to inspire love for petite bosoms and celebrate the women at the heart of the label.

I admire what Megan has set out to do with Meg at Midnight. I love the editorial images, shot at Blakes Hotel in London – I hope you will check out her website here and explore her collection for yourself, Blog Reader!

Finally, a note on the name “Meg at Midnight”. There is a wonderful story about the Brothers Grimm tale that inspired the brand name, which you can read here.

Friday Lingerie Lust: La Perla Spring 2012

I have been wholly captivated by the spring 2012 lingerie and loungewear collection by La Perla.  Already a huge fan of the label, their 60s inspired editorial for the new line, in the style of Audrey Hepburn meets Jackie Onassis meets Elizabeth Taylor, shows a truly glamorous and luxurious collection.   There is always something for everyone at La Perla and spring 2012 is no exception.  My favourite piece, the blow up vintage triangle bra (picture above) is a delicate leavers lace and embroidered tulle bra just the right peachy pink shade to look youthful but appear romantic and grown up too.

The collection uses some very fresh spring colours like this lemon chiffon yellow (above) as well as developing some styles in black for the femme fatale like this beautiful chemise (below).

Finally, another of my favourites is this white / ivory tulle nightgown, below.  I love the decorative neckline.

I was wowed even further by La Perla’s spring swimwear collection – and that’s a post for another day – but I wanted to share this image with you – exactly the sort of poolside glamour I’ll be aiming for this summer…. (it remains to be seen if I will achieve even half of this).

Another stunningly beautiful collection from La Perla, Blog Reader.

Friday Lingerie Lust: Else

Finding new designers in the places I travel to is one of my favourite things.  I’m busy planning a trip to Turkey for early summer and I was feeling inspired to look around to see if I could find some lingerie for this week’s “lust” from the country.  I found the very glamorous Else Lingerie which is surely going to find it’s way into my suitcase come the end of my trip.

Else is the creation of founder and designer Ela Onur, born in Istanbul, who studied in the US before returning to Turkey to start her label in 2007.

The whole idea behind Else is the effort to make a woman feel glamorous, confident and comfortable while carrying a special set of lingerie” Onur tells us.  Else’s signature collection is made from 100% silk and hand crafted.  There is also a smaller diffusion line on offer, Something Else - a more playful, youthful collection than the main range.  My favourite collection so far is spring summer 2011, a gorgeously feminine mix of silk and lace in sugary pastels (pictures, above).  Autumn winter of the same year was a marked change with geometric and Chevron patterns and uber sensual sheer fabrics (picture below):

Another very different overall look (I love a designer who innovates each time around, which Onur clearly does) is seen for 2012 – vibrant hues and floral prints in a collection based around a botanical theme (I see lingerie is big on nature this year, did you see last week’s lingerie feature, Blog Reader?)

Luckily we don’t all need to travel to Turkey to purchase Else Lingerie.  (You will miss out on the amazing view from the Lycian Way and the delights of the sunken city Batik Sehir but I promise to post some photos later in the year, Blog Reader).  You can buy Else from Journelle in NYC, BHLDN and the lovely Forty Winks boutique in Boston, MA.   A full list of stockists is given on their website. What else do you need?!*

Have a great weekend! StyleOnTheCouch xo
