Friday Lingerie Lust: La Perla SS13

La Perla SS13 collection 1

La Perla SS13 collection 3

La Perla SS13 collectionMy first experience of La Perla lingerie was in Italy many years ago, when my good friend Flavia introduced me to the brand in the very fabulous department store La Rinascente in Milan.  Over a glass of wine with cathedral views (this shopping centre is amazing go visit!) I decided to purchase a couple of their styles in the sale in the lingerie section of the store.  My friend replied I had very good (and somewhat expensive, had the items not been on sale) taste, to which I smiled in reply and packed up my new lingerie for my travels back to the UK.

Several years later these La Perla pieces appear in just as good condition as when I purchased them, such is the high quality of design work that goes into this brand.  I used to love popping into the Madison Avenue La Perla in NYC for a browse, and when asked to recommend lingerie for special occasions, and my reply always includes La Perla.  They have a wonderful ability to produce very sophisticated and special designs collection after collection, that are romantic and well-fitting and have a great deal of visual allure.  Alluring is in fact the one word I would say sums up the brand for me.

This, the SS13 collection from La Perla is inspired by a 19-Century novel “The Leopard” by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.  The novel is set in Sicily, mostly in the summer of 1860, amidst the invasion of Garibaldi’s army of the Risorgimento.   This influence is neatly summed up by my lingerie gurus over at Faire Frou Frou:  ”The designs are inspired by Sicilian noblewomen and the splendor of the Baroque period… each piece has a timeless appeal and features bows, lace and delicate embroideries.”

There is something very special about owning a piece of La Perla lingerie. You can view their entire collection HERE.

Friday Lingerie Lust: La Perla Spring 2012

I have been wholly captivated by the spring 2012 lingerie and loungewear collection by La Perla.  Already a huge fan of the label, their 60s inspired editorial for the new line, in the style of Audrey Hepburn meets Jackie Onassis meets Elizabeth Taylor, shows a truly glamorous and luxurious collection.   There is always something for everyone at La Perla and spring 2012 is no exception.  My favourite piece, the blow up vintage triangle bra (picture above) is a delicate leavers lace and embroidered tulle bra just the right peachy pink shade to look youthful but appear romantic and grown up too.

The collection uses some very fresh spring colours like this lemon chiffon yellow (above) as well as developing some styles in black for the femme fatale like this beautiful chemise (below).

Finally, another of my favourites is this white / ivory tulle nightgown, below.  I love the decorative neckline.

I was wowed even further by La Perla’s spring swimwear collection – and that’s a post for another day – but I wanted to share this image with you – exactly the sort of poolside glamour I’ll be aiming for this summer…. (it remains to be seen if I will achieve even half of this).

Another stunningly beautiful collection from La Perla, Blog Reader.

Jean Paul Gaultier for La Perla SS2012

No, Blog Reader, do not adjust your sets, it is not Friday Lingerie Lust time.  One of my favourite lingerie brands La Perla just released images of its second collection in collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier I wanted to share these with you asap.  I wrote about the first collection before (see Lady Gaga Stole My BodySuit) when I was coveting the amazing black bodysuit with conical cups.  In this collection there is a clear progression of Gaultier’s daring signature style, more textures and different silhouettes.

I feel more excited about this collection than the first, with the most exciting thing about the new range being the addition of swimwear.  One pieces and bikinis are highly glamorous and flattering.  Below are the pieces I am coveting:
