Friday Lingerie Lust: (Back) Between The Sheets

Last year I introduced you, Blog Reader, to lingerie and loungewear brand Between The Sheets.  I had a preview of designer Layla L’obatti’s Arabesque collection last summer and it is now available to buy; a beautiful vintage-inspired range of luxury silk and hand cut lace with velvet trim (picture above and two below).  The silk bralette and tap pant design comes in the rich shades maroon red ‘fig‘, ‘lagoon‘ blue and my personal favourite, a delicate peachy ‘lotus‘ colour – very romantic and with the seductive illusion of nudity.

This fall, Between The Sheets have built on signatures such as the ouvert high waist knicker and introduced a new petal lace (images immediately above).  I own some of the current Between The Sheets Birds of Play collection and these designs are great for weekend lounging.

New sleep wear additions complete fall 12/13.  The image below left is of the PlayDream pajama set, a perfect style for lounging or heading to the land of nod.  I like that Between The Sheets are functional and flattering, that they use rich fabrics and have a lovely variety underneath their brand umbrella.

Do check out Arabesque, available on the site to buy now.

All that remains, Blog Reader, is for me to pirouette off into the Manhattan skyline.  I have photoshoots galore this weekend – I’m going to be selling some of my wardrobe on Threadflip in the near future – and I have some outfits in the works to share.  These include my new latex skirt from the amazing Atsuko Kudo (you may have seen Lady Gaga in her designs) and favourites from Alice Yim‘s summer collection. Until then.. Friday Lingerie Lust: Blush Spring Collection

Back in November I featured Blush on StyleOnTheCouch and this proved to be one of my most popular lingerie posts.  My Christmas gift to you, Blog Reader, is an early look at Blush’s sublime spring collection.  For spring they treat us to another dazzling editorial campaign, this time in the style of screen idol Bardot.

Once again Blush have created beautifully distinct pieces within a spring line that seems to offer something for everyone.  I think that the silhouettes for spring/summer are super flattering and I love that lace features so strongly in their new intimates.  Spellbound (picture, below) is a delightfully retro polka dot print design within the mainline collection.  The high waisted brief has a cute cut out with bow detail that highlights the playful sensuality of the Blush woman.

Luscious (pictures immediately above) is a wonderfully flirty line of banded stretch lace and stretch dot mesh.  Created in “red pout” and “black swan” (to the person who conjures up these names, I salute you) my favourite Luscious piece is the chemise set with string brief (above picture, right).

Blush continue their ‘Black Label’ collection which is good news as this means the Midnight Kiss and Naked Envy lines will run through to next year.  I have the teddy from the Midnight Kiss range and it is created in a gorgeously rich and opulent midnight blue colour.  My experience with Blush is that they are a great fit – the satin fabric of the teddy hugs the body perfectly.

Finally, I want to highlight Great Expectations (image, top of page) that wouldn’t look out of place on a Hollywood movie star of the 40s or 50s.  Free Love (picture above right), is an interesting juxtaposition of girly flower print with sheer fabric – a little bit of naughty with a lot of nice (or should that be vice versa?) – and is available in black and white colours.

The spring styles will be available to buy from February.  Click here for Blush stockists.

A little note: I’ll be posting less frequently over Christmas and New Year but do check back on Monday for a post marking one year of living here in New York City and two years of blogging!

Have a very Merry Christmas! StyleOnTheCouch xo

Christmas Lingerie Shopping (1): Teddies for Bettys

Each week during December, along with the usual Friday Lingerie Lust, I will be posting a feature about my go-to places to browse and purchase the most fabulous lingerie.  If you’re looking to buy intimates for Christmas, wish to make hints to a loved one (I suggest you leave this blog open under his or her nose by way of a subtle reminder), or want to keep your eye out for the New Year’s sales – these are the places I recommend to you.

The first of my Christmas Lingerie Shopping posts is the gorgeous boutique Teddies for Betties, in Austin, Texas. I met Ashley, Teddies boutique owner, during my trip to Austin over the summer.  She introduced me to labels I hadn’t heard of before (like Andres Sarda, one of Ashley’s personal favourites) and she stocks many brands that I adore: La Perla, Lascivious, and Chantelle can all be found here.

Things I love about Teddies for Bettys: the uber chic monochrome changing rooms; the writing on the walls – “where luxury is an everyday experience, not a special occasion” - and Ashley’s fabulous sense of humour (I love her Twitter feed, she always makes me laugh with her quotes and adventures).  The proof of the wonder of this boutique? I returned twice during my Texas visit!

I asked Ashley to tell us a little about her store and her love of lingerie:

Tell us about the boutique:
Teddies for Bettys is an upscale boutique offering fashion forward and fine lingerie from mainstays such as, La Perla, Chantelle, Prima Donna and newcomers like Fleur of England and Lascivious. We specialize in bra fittings and offer the discriminating lingerie shopper high design and superior quality, in an atmosphere that is comfortable as well as beautiful.
What are your favourite collections:
Andres Sarda, Marie Jo, Chantelle and Cosabella (it is hard to limit this!)
What are your suggestions for Christmas gifts that will go down a treat?
Fleur of England for something sexy and absolutely luxurious, Chantelle’s Eternelle Demi in Passion Red – an absolutely gorgeous set that can be for a special occasion or everyday and Cosabella’s new collection ‘Cocoon‘.  It is a cashmere blend of loungewear that feels absolutely decadent on the skin.
Why Austin?
Our draw to Austin and the downtown area was the fact that the city is so progressive, recreational and supportive of local business.  Obviously being the music capital of the world helped!
