Nine West x Pose Style Challenge: Week 2 (The Daisy Duke)

In week two of my Nine West x Pose Style Challenge, it’s Daisy Duke time.

This week I’m styling my MsFabulous sandals around my favourite denim cut-offs from GAP – a rare appearance of the legs on the blog I think you’ll agree, but since I lost last week’s challenge (we won’t dwell on that) the gloves are off – along with the trousers.

I always liked the character of Daisy Duke from The Dukes of Hazard.  She had a habit of getting herself into trouble but was always well-meaning (if a little of an air head at times). Her kind-hearted, innocent nature and well, her ability to handle weapons, ride horses and pretty much do anything required to get her and the boys out of a sticky situation made her pretty impressive in my book.  That and the shorts. The shorts were quite cool too*.

So Blog Reader, get over to Pose later today, follow @NineWest and cast your vote in the challenge by ‘loving’ my style (if you do!) – with this action you’ll be entered into a competition to win a pair of Nine West shoes and my legs and I will be eternally grateful.

Wearing: Sandals by Nine West; Bag, ASOS; Denim shorts and oxford shirt, both GAP.  Bracelet, Bordelle.  Sunglasses, GUESS.

*Let me be clear, she is no Wonder Woman, who remains my number one shorts-wearing-style-icon.  With far better hot-pants than Daisy, an invisible plane and a golden lasso that not only snared villains but forced people to tell the truth she was just brilliant.  The Wonder Woman outfit just didn’t work with the sandals.

Nine West approached me to take part in this challenge and are sponsoring my stylish efforts.  I decided to take on this challenge as I am a fan of Nine West, having purchased several of their styles in the past. You’ve likely seen me wearing Nine West before, for example here and here.  For this challenge however Nine West supplied me with these shoes free of charge and I’m sharing this with you because it’s a little different to my usual features.  And so, let the styling fun continue!

London Style and European Travel…

I’m at the end of my London visit *sob*.  Next I’m flying over to Turkey to see one of my close friends get married in what sounds like an amazing beach ceremony.  I’m staying on in Turkey for a holiday so I’ll be taking a short blog break too.  I’m hoping to have some fabulous images of the places I’m visiting along the south-west coast of Turkey for you when I get back to NYC, Blog Reader.

As I wave goodbye to London and all the amazing Jubilee preparations I’m reminded that I have a little piece of the city in New York with this skyline top by Emma Louise London.  Part of Emma’s spring summer collection 2012, a wonderful tribute to London, this pale mint tunic top with red print is also available in shift dress style.

One thing I noticed in London this visit was the amount of colour around.  Sure, Londoners do black as well as the chic-est of New Yorkers, but there is more of a uniform in Manhattan and more room, it seems, for eclecticism and mixing trends, colour and print, in London.

These Zara heels have been firmly packed in my luggage for this trip. I am amazed Zara haven’t run out yet, I’ve seen so many people wearing them.  And for good reason, they are a beautiful sandal shape and comfortable too.  I’d keep your eye on Zara bags & shoes over the next few months, Blog Reader – they are already ahead of the game with the metallic trend for autumn / winter, I spied this ankle strap sandal in gold which seems like the perfect way to get some shimmer into your wardrobe…

Don’t miss me too much, Blog Reader *wink*

I may not have my regular internet access for tweeting but you can catch up with my adventures on Twitter or tune into my Travel Tumblr for a few pictures over the next week or so.  See you again soon and as always thank you for reading and following* StyleOnTheCouch xo

Pillar-Box Red Cambridge Satchel (& London, Baby!)

I’m back in London this week, Blog Reader.  Cue pub, pre-Jubilee celebrations and a walk along the Thames.  I’ve realized by now that I have a love-hate relationship with London largely based around the weather (love it in the sun, hate it in the usual grey grizzle) but this week it seems I’ve picked a great time to holiday!  I have plans to visit some of my favourite UK high street stores to hunt for new styles and I’m picking up an exciting new bodywear design from Bordelle I can’t wait to share with you.

My Cambridge Satchel is a staple on my arm in NYC and its pillar-box red colour always reminds me of Landahn town.  The Cambridge Satchel Co. have some gorgeous designs which I want to talk about here – their new metallics which are perfect for fall / winter and the music bag which I adore for the unique metal bar fastening.  I also discovered recently through my friend Alison and the ladies behind IAmIntoThis that you can have your satchel embossed with initials / words of your choice – check this out here.

IAmIntoThis recently visited the Cambridge Satchel Co. and got the opportunity to emboss a satchel themselves, you can read this here.

My outfit in this post is one that is quite ‘typical’ of me.  I’m wearing two of my favourite accessories, my Lascivious Aiko waistcoat and cuffs from Fleet Ilya. These are two labels I am also hoping to catch up with whilst back home.  Lascivious have a wonderful autumn winter 12 collection forthcoming, lots of amazing twists on their classics.  I remain pretty faithful to Gap for their denim – these super flares have served me well – and this black Zara top with elasticated hem is a closet staple.  I might even get to wear my Guess sunglasses in this UK this week!

Hope you had a lovely weekend, Blog Reader…..
