Friday Lingerie: Lascivious SS14

Lascivious StyleOnTheCouch

LascivousOne of my most loved and hence written about lingerie brands Lascivious recently released their SS14 collectionReminiscent of 1960s Playboy shoots and the ‘summer of love’, Lascivious have created feminine styles with a vintage feel, yet still in keeping with the brand’s artistic tastes:

“Floral embroidery is combined with signature cut-outs, and powdery pastel, ivory and mint ranges are given weight with classic black and rich purple pairings. Light, flirty shapes are combined with subtle nods to the brand’s more erotic aesthetic, producing a balanced offering of lingerie pieces which allows individual interpretation:

The Liana range (featured above) is my favourite from the new collection:

“This sexy range combines a pop of sea-bright mint jersey overlaid with a delicate black circle lace and finished with a scalloped trim to create a modern, feminine collection of luxury lingerie.”

The provocative Liana suspender, featuring curved cut-outs on the hips, fastens around the neck and extends down the front over the bust to a waist band which highlights your narrowest point.  It is an intricate and alluring shape that works alone or sits beautifully with the rest of the Liana lingerie range.  If you choose just one piece from SS14, this should be top of your list.

The luxe and very pretty Lucy range features a long-line bra, cut-out basque and a gorgeous selection of different brief options. Utilising an unusual embroidered, 60s-style floral lace,

Excitingly, this season Lascivious have collaborated with some Friday Lingerie faithfuls such as Marika Vera in a series of unique departures from their signature styles.  Of these I am more interested in the unique and artisan designs by William Wilde -  a latex pencil skirt, bolero jacket and neck-bow – the skirt being the  ultimate celebration of the female form, hugging and caressing every curve.

Lascivious Flower Skirt

Finally, Lascivious’ Flower skirt is a perfect addition to this summer range.  With its bubble-hem, skater style and delicately embroidered with super pretty aqua coloured flowers and beaded appliquéd floral embellishment, it is heavy enough to offer coverage on a breezy summers day and will make a gorgeous addition to any wardrobe.

Head over to Lascivious to see more of their new SS14 collection.

StyleOnTheCouch Friday Lingerie Lust Playful Promises pippaIf you like your lingerie to be vintage inspired but without a uber heavy focus on structure and support and more of a lean towards pretty, flirty styling, I suggest you look no further than Playful Promises.  I met the team from Playful during London Fashion Week in February, when they kindly gifted me their Neon Eve soft cup bra and brief set because they knew of my love of undergarments.

This, their limited edition collection out last month, is the result of a competition Playful Promises ran in 2011 to find new and emerging designers who would contribute to their SS13 collection under the theme of ‘The East’ and Milton’s Paradise Lost.  Competition winner Pippa Davidson created a set inspired by a fusion of eastern and western beauty with her purple and pink print retro bra and brief set.  Carla Pullinger took inspiration from 50s glamour and came up with a colour block design aimed at enhancing female curves.  Finally, competition winner Eva Lai, who created my favourite set, used a nude and pink colour palette with a hint of lime green in her detailing.  I adore the slightly sheer side panels in her high-waisted briefs.

You can purchase the Limited Edition collection HERE.  Playful Promises plan to run a second design competition next year, so watch this space!

Have  a lovely weekend, Blog Reader! StyleOnTheCouch xo

Friday Lingerie Lust: La Perla SS13

La Perla SS13 collection 1

La Perla SS13 collection 3

La Perla SS13 collectionMy first experience of La Perla lingerie was in Italy many years ago, when my good friend Flavia introduced me to the brand in the very fabulous department store La Rinascente in Milan.  Over a glass of wine with cathedral views (this shopping centre is amazing go visit!) I decided to purchase a couple of their styles in the sale in the lingerie section of the store.  My friend replied I had very good (and somewhat expensive, had the items not been on sale) taste, to which I smiled in reply and packed up my new lingerie for my travels back to the UK.

Several years later these La Perla pieces appear in just as good condition as when I purchased them, such is the high quality of design work that goes into this brand.  I used to love popping into the Madison Avenue La Perla in NYC for a browse, and when asked to recommend lingerie for special occasions, and my reply always includes La Perla.  They have a wonderful ability to produce very sophisticated and special designs collection after collection, that are romantic and well-fitting and have a great deal of visual allure.  Alluring is in fact the one word I would say sums up the brand for me.

This, the SS13 collection from La Perla is inspired by a 19-Century novel “The Leopard” by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.  The novel is set in Sicily, mostly in the summer of 1860, amidst the invasion of Garibaldi’s army of the Risorgimento.   This influence is neatly summed up by my lingerie gurus over at Faire Frou Frou:  ”The designs are inspired by Sicilian noblewomen and the splendor of the Baroque period… each piece has a timeless appeal and features bows, lace and delicate embroideries.”

There is something very special about owning a piece of La Perla lingerie. You can view their entire collection HERE.
