Friday Lingerie Lust: Stella McCartney & Journelle for Fashion’s Night Out

Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out turns four years old this year.   On September 6th 2012 stylish events will be held all over the world with special offers, limited edition products and guest appearances.

Last September I popped into Journelle‘s SoHo boutique in NYC to join the fun.  This year they have a wonderful event planned in conjunction with Stella McCartney – a chance to preview Stella’s new BASIC line (simply called; ‘Stella’) along with her autumn / winter lingerie collection for 2012.  There will also be the usual fun and games done so wonderfully by Journelle, including competitions to win fabulous prizes.

The new ‘Stella’ line has been created in keeping with McCartney’s eco-conscious focus.  Made from organic cotton and recycled hardware, a series of bra shapes with a multifunctional design are lightweight and reasonably priced (a bra costs $68).  Looking at the preview images I’m already a huge fan of the new shapes and I love that signature details such as the gold rings and logo have been retained in this collection.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this set below:

In conjunction with their Fashion’ Night Out event, the lovely folks at Journelle are offering one lucky StyleOnTheCouch reader a chance to win a pair of Stella McCartney’s ‘tourist knickers’:

In order to take part to win you must either:

1) Mention this competition on Twitter by re-tweeting me and mentioning StyleOnTheCouch and @ShopJournelle (you’ll find me @StyleOnTheCouch) or,

2) Share this competition on Facebook (you’ll find me here).

Just be sure to leave me a comment below to say you’ve done one or two above and leave your email address so I know where to reach you.  The competition is open internationally and the closing date is midnight September 6th. Good luck!

Be sure to visit Journelle if you are in New York City for Fashion’s Night Out this year! Details are in the invitation at the top of this blog post.

New York Fashion Week Diary Part IV: Fashions Night Out

After the Tadashi Shoji show and Candela presentation on Thursday, it was time for photos at Lincoln Center with Mon Petit Chou Chou and the fun of Fashions Night Out (FNO).  First stop was to meet up with Lynzy of Sparkling Footsteps at Bloomingdales for fashion fuel and a cocktail.  Having waved a swift hello to Rachel Zoe on her way into the store, we headed to Alice Yim‘s trunk show to take a look at her new Spring/Summer collection: a gorgeous mix of chiffon skirts and shorts in bold poppy red and electric blue, lace tops, draped dresses and lotus flower prints:

Photo below from Alice Yim - you can see more on Alice’s Facebook Page:

After Alice Yim where else to indulge my British-ness but at the SoHo branch of Reiss, to explore their new Fall collection whilst sipping “London lemonade” cocktails and having our photos taken in that classic oh-so-British symbol, the red phone booth

Whilst Lani and her fabulous red Milly pants were highjacked for a street style interview, I browsed the new looks in store (the entire lookbook for the Reiss Fall collection is now available online.)  Here are my favourites from the mainline collection – I’m totally in love with the halter dress, second image from the left – and there is some very chic tailoring in store right now:

Final stop on Fashions Night Out was lingerie boutique Journelle.  There is always a heap of beautiful items on display in Journelle but that didn’t stop them from filling the store even further with a DJ set, a bar area, and a few live models…. Sadly I did not win the raffle nor did I purchase my coveted item of the insertion bra by VPL (I think it was at this point that Lani dragged me away from all things lingerie related and for the moment my credit card thanks her)

Back home, a perfect end to Fashions Night Out was achieved when my friend Anne arrived at my apartment bearing macarons.  Anne wrote an account of her own FNO along with review of the new Laduree in NYC on her blog and you can read it here.  At this point, the Marni heels were consigned to the back of the wardrobe, wine was consumed and macarons were tasted. Until next year…..

NYFW Photo Diary Part I: Tadashi Shoji & Candela

Fashion week is here in New York City.  At Lincoln Centre I had the pleasure of hanging out with the lovely Lani of Mon Petit Chou Chou to attend the Tadashi Shoji show where a mix of bold stripes, pastels and lace worked together to create a “romantic wedding” atmosphere on the catwalk…

Whilst I stuck to black (Reiss shirt, Gap jean leggings) and wore my new Marni heels from Moss Austin, Lani was the lady in red in her outfit: off-white heels by Marni, pants by Milly, Forever 21 top and gorgeous necklace made by her (very creative!) mother

The front row at Shoji:

After the Shoji show we headed into the Candela presentation.  There was a young, fresh feel to the designs, models ensconced in a tropical jungle playground.  Rather like Shoji, there was a mix of colour and fabric – feminine touches of lace, bold coloured gowns, sheer mesh and leather shorts… all in all a very hip and youthful collection

After the shows we went on to visit Alice Yim and Reiss for Fashions Night Out. Pictures to come!
