Friday Lingerie Lust: Maison Close

I first read about lingerie brand Maison Close on some of my favourite blogs before I stumbled across their designs in that little gem of a lingerie boutique ‘Azaleas‘ in the East Village, NYC.  I’ve featured them before as a Friday Lingerie post and with four new collections ready to tantalize and seduce, it’s time to feature them again.

If you are looking for lingerie that is well priced, comfortable and enormously sensual, Maison Close is perfect for you.  The brand is committed to the game of love: erotic, chic and refined.  From their lookbook:

Maison Close shows pride in its commitment to a peculiarly French style of love games in which gallantry and naughty pleasures form a perfect blend. The brand plays with the notions of control and submission, secrecy and revelation, retention and ecstasy, with each successive collection avoiding the pitfall of vulgarity and showy exhibitionism.”

New collections include Villa Satine in black (second image) available now and Exquise Allure, (image top) available to purchase from January on the Maison Close website.  I very much like how the simplicity of the set in the very first image translates into such an alluring (naturally, given the name) design – having previously brought out Pavillon Bellevue in ivory, I was pleased to see the label include these styles in particular in the new collection.  A bodysuit and long sleeved dress complete the series.

I own several Maison Close designs and some of their accessories too, which I feel make perfect gifts – they are presented in elegant purple boxes almost the colour of Milk Tray**.  Affordable and attractive, how can you resist?

You can purchase Maison Close direct from their website. Also from Faire Frou Frou, Shop Des Createurs, Coco De Mer and Journelle.

*Oo la laaaa indeed.

Friday Lingerie Lust: Lascivious AW12/13

It is with great excitement, Blog Reader, that I bring you the new autumn winter 2012 collection by Lascivious for this week’s Friday Lingerie Lust.  One of my most lust-worthy features to date, this season Lascivious treat us to three new amazing and sexually explosive collections inspired by ‘love’ – Lola, Isla and Cara – whilst retaining their signature classics for us to enjoy all year round, such as Lila (below) and Kitty (final image, below – and yes, MIAOW).

“Our autumn winter 12 collection is inspired by the notion of love as a binding entity – something you want to be chained to; lustful, base and raw. This mood and idea has been deconstructed to draw inspiration literally from flesh and bone – from our Lola collection, with its sinuous flowing design lines, through to Cara, which features an ivory bone colour over which a luxe gunmetal chain is digitally printed.
There is also a circular theme running through the ranges, with eyelets, circular cut outs, mesh and components. The Isla collection features a patent leather playsuit that can be laced in any way the wearer chooses – the ultimate in restrictive freedom; and a new collaborative collar and cuffs with Fraulein Kink, available for wholesale for the first time. Highlights of leather and [faux] fur are included to stimulate the senses; the juxtoposition of hard and soft (heart and bone) echoing the central themes for all AW12 ranges” ~ Lascivious

Regular Blog Readers might already have spotted my favourite piece from the new collection – image top shows the Isla Long Body Piece and thong, the body garment being a striking show-piece made from eyelet tape which can be fastened and tied in many different ways to harness the body.  I’m already envisaging this as both inner and outerwear and I’m really impressed with the styling of this piece in the editorial.  Lascivious, this is just why I love you…!

My joint favourite has to be the Lola Basque (above).  A beautifully dramatic body with pleated fins at the hips and contrasting cut outs and panelling, the removable suspender attachments allow this piece to be worn as inner or outerwear too.  It’s a very modern interpretation of the traditional basque and one done very well.

The classics from Lascivious include some fabulous ivory pieces, and at this point I have to give them a shout out for naming one of their collections after me.  Above: Sarah-Lou - delicate French hand-beaded lace, silk and an oyster satin bow.

Finally, Cara (above), created in-house by the Lascivious team.  Subversive and provocative, Cara is a limited edition range of bra and briefs/string, suspender and vest – get in there quick if it takes your fancy, I can guarantee it will not be around long.

I salute you, Lascivious for your continued effort at being fashion forward, directional lingerie.  You can catch the brand at Curve in New York City this year too.

Have a wonderful weekend, Blog Reader! It looks like being great weather in NYC and I’m hoping to enjoy the outdoors, humidity permitting. I’m also planning a trip to Charleston next weekend, so if anyone has any suggestions of things to do or places to go please leave me a comment below.  I think it’s going to be an exciting trip!

Friday Lingerie Lust: Marie Jo L’Aventure

In what is probably a reaction to the statement lingerie I posted over the last few weeks, for example the decadent and playful neon-hued Damaris; this week I have been reminding myself of my favourite no-nonsense lingerie.  By ‘no-nonsense’ I mean clean lines and perfect silhouettes – pieces that are both utilitarian and alluring. The label that came immediately to my mind was Marie Jo L’Aventure.

My first introduction to Marie Jo L’Aventure was at Rigby & Peller in London, stockists of both the Marie Jo mainline collection and the diffusion line.  Launched in 1981, Marie Jo is a timeless, delicate and sensual range of luxury lingerie; in comparison L’Aventure feels a little more chic, modern and vivid.  Eight collections come together to form spring summer 2012 – lilac coloured Vassily (image immediately below); Tom (nautically themed, below) and my favourite, Theo (image top, a hot blooded, steamy red guaranteed to set pulses racing).  Also polka-dotted Roy, fifties inspired Ingmar and geometric-print Egon.  Finally, the wonderfully named champagne-coloured Dante (image far bottom) and the clean cut Astor (above) complete the spring collection.

One of the best features of Marie Jo and Marie Jo L’Aventure is that several styles can  be worn multiple ways – halter, racer back or strapless – making them a very versatile addition to your lingerie collection.  I love that the convertibility element hasn’t led them to compromise an inch on the luxury they present to us – seductive and supportive is a must for me and they get this right.  In addition, with sizes ranging from between A to F cup they cater well for different shapes and silhouettes.

In terms of design, the Marie Jo brand has always been at the forefront of innovations in lingerie.  They claim to be one of the first European labels to use elastic velvet in undergarments as well as introducing moulded cups made from foam into their bras.  Their experimentation with graphic prints and opaque fabrics led to the birth of Marie Jo L’Aventure as brand in its own right.  Perhaps because of these careful and skilful design elements, a series of timeless favourites remains part of both the main and the L’Aventure collection.

The label further proved its design prowess in a 2010 collaboration with A. F. Vandervorst, resulting in a six piece collection themed around ‘lingerie of the future’.  You can read about the collaboration here.

I have never forgotten this wonderful quote from Coco Chanel, Blog Reader: “Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.”  I feel she is oh so right about this.  Find yourself a piece of Marie Jo L’Aventure, Blog Reader – and have a wonderfully opulent weekend…!
