This is one of my favourite style posts on the blog because all of my new family were involved in its inception – husband and photographer extraordinaire and my recently ‘adopted’ yellow lab framed in the winter sunlight back in December in the USA.

I wish the winters in England were always as bright as they were in Atlanta. Even though Atlanta recently had snow, here in the UK I seem perpetually surrounded by grey clouds, wind and rain. All very depressing. Very soon I will have diagnosed myself with Seasonal Affective Disorder, thank goodness the fashion weeks are fast approaching for some excitement!

Black, white and denim continue to be my wardrobe theme since the past few years. I bought this pair of J Brand boyfriend jeans in the U.S at Neiman Marcus and have been wearing them with a range of shirts and slouchy jumpers during this cold time.  Admittedly the ripped fabric adds an extra chill when you step outside your front door having forgotten what you’re wearing, but hey, this is fashion not comfort, Blog Reader :)

This Vivienne Westwood Anglomania coat is one of those wonderful styles, half cape, half jacket, that makes me feel cocooned when I wear it.  I know this will stay with me for years through the autumn winter seasons, and I particularly like the wide sleeves that make it compatible with a range of things worn under it (I just can’t abide a tight-fitting coat, unless perhaps military styles, that means I can’t layer well in the cold).

During my December travels I wore my Majdan Rocks Slope Ring often. I’m not an avid wearer of jewelry but this ring is a wonderfully substantial piece to show off; modern in style and a little quirky.  Majdan Rocks are currently sold on the Luisaviaroma website which is testament to the success of the brand.  A little bit of daring with a lot of understated elegance, do check out designer Iwona Majdan’s website for more in this series.

The lingerie brand Made By Noemi perfectly straddles that line between functional and sensual – their designs are comfortable and beautiful, no less so than this lovely bodysuit with shoulder ties.  It’s no secret that I am a fan of the bodysuit.  I added this piece to my collection after Made by Noemi held a half price sale over the Christmas holidays.  At such a fabulous price I could not resist – there is a 50% sale on swimwear right now if you are interested!

Designer Noemi Ivanovas is a true beauty; Amelie-meets-Bond-girl.  Her collections are designed to be the go-to pieces women love and wear again and again because they have that magical power of making her feel amazing…  I think Noemi succeeds very well at this with the simplest of styles like the body – having emerged from the bathing suit, camisole and panties, the body is that perfect cross-over combination that can be worn underneath sweaters or alone with high waist trousers.  Here I’ve paired my suit with my Paige Denim Jimmy jeans, bought at Selfridges denim hall, the perfect stop for finding a new style of boyfriend pants.

Made by Noemi’s collections are inspired by such a wonderful variety of things like film, historical figures, eras and paintings.  One of my favourites was influenced by the work of realist painter Edward Hopper: ‘In the colour shadow of Edward‘, a soft and feminine collection with a vintage feel and a pretty pastel colour palette.  Her ‘Base‘ collection is a series of basic, comfortable and well made pieces, the perfect foundations for a lingerie wardrobe.

This is perhaps my last opportunity to be super slouchy for a while, Blog Reader, as this weekend I move home for a new job that starts the following week.  I can’t wait to take some photos in my new setting and use the surroundings for StyleOnTheCouch posts.  I’ve spoken before on the blog of how much I love change – this weekend represents another really exciting move forwards in life for me so apologies if I seem a little absent here and on social media whilst I do some exploring and get myself sorted!  I still have lots of fashion week posts and reviews to bring you so watch this space.  Have a lovely weekend!
