coolbrands_bookIf you are a regular reader of my Friday Lingerie series then Kriss Soonik will need no introduction.  A beautiful mix of lingerie and luxe loungewear, Soonik’s collections mix her Nordic minimalism with a hefty dose of New York cool and Parisian chic.  Signatures from the brand include her suspender top and triangle lace bra – the latter has been brought back a rainbow of colours for 2014; all seven colours of lace Soonik has worked with over the years - to celebrate the brand turning five years old.

For SS14 Soonik uses electric blue, cream and white for her line of bodysuits, cover ups, and lace bra and brief sets with signature bows and ruffles all perfectly placed.  My favourites from the new line are the Elva bodysuit (image two, right) – I never found a halterneck design I didn’t like because it accentuates the shoulders in a super sexy way – and the Susan lace knickers (image four, left) which are just too beautifully frilly to cover up.

Named as one of Britain’s ‘Cool Brands‘ for 2013/14 and featuring in countless fashion magazines, you can’t be a true lingerie affectionado without some Kriss Soonik in your closet.

Reckless Wolf LingerieWhen I break from my usual Friday routine to write about lingerie, Blog Reader, you know that there is something very special that just can’t wait.  I’m thrilled to give you this exclusive introduction to Reckless Wolf, a dynamic fusion of underwear and outerwear inspired by independent, rebellious girls.

Designer Jade Little has approached her brand with a fierce attitude, resulting in a provocative, style-led collection with names such as ‘Howl, ‘Prey‘ and ‘Hunted‘.  My favourites feature innovative cut outs and harness-like styling.  Not for the faint hearted, each piece is a technical collaboration of fabrics that provide confidence and comfort for a fearless and determined attitude.

The debut collection from Reckless Wolf launches online today. To be the first to get your hands on one of the new styles click HERE.

Or you can wait ’til the full moon.

Your choice.

Friday Lingerie Lust: La Perla SS13

La Perla SS13 collection 1

La Perla SS13 collection 3

La Perla SS13 collectionMy first experience of La Perla lingerie was in Italy many years ago, when my good friend Flavia introduced me to the brand in the very fabulous department store La Rinascente in Milan.  Over a glass of wine with cathedral views (this shopping centre is amazing go visit!) I decided to purchase a couple of their styles in the sale in the lingerie section of the store.  My friend replied I had very good (and somewhat expensive, had the items not been on sale) taste, to which I smiled in reply and packed up my new lingerie for my travels back to the UK.

Several years later these La Perla pieces appear in just as good condition as when I purchased them, such is the high quality of design work that goes into this brand.  I used to love popping into the Madison Avenue La Perla in NYC for a browse, and when asked to recommend lingerie for special occasions, and my reply always includes La Perla.  They have a wonderful ability to produce very sophisticated and special designs collection after collection, that are romantic and well-fitting and have a great deal of visual allure.  Alluring is in fact the one word I would say sums up the brand for me.

This, the SS13 collection from La Perla is inspired by a 19-Century novel “The Leopard” by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.  The novel is set in Sicily, mostly in the summer of 1860, amidst the invasion of Garibaldi’s army of the Risorgimento.   This influence is neatly summed up by my lingerie gurus over at Faire Frou Frou:  ”The designs are inspired by Sicilian noblewomen and the splendor of the Baroque period… each piece has a timeless appeal and features bows, lace and delicate embroideries.”

There is something very special about owning a piece of La Perla lingerie. You can view their entire collection HERE.
