Towards the end of London Fashion Week, when the catwalk shows were ending and the excitement of Milan was building, I was invited to an exclusive blogger preview of the new autumn winter collection from ALLSAINTS. So exclusive in fact that I cannot share many of the looks with you just yet – these pictures here show the detail and wonderful investment in fabrics that ALLSAINTS have made for 2013.
Under the creative direction of Wil Beedle, styles for autumn winter have been created from soft lamb’s leather, pony hair and cashmere and take ALLSAINTS in a distinctly new and more grown-up direction. Beedle certainly seems to be trying to re-inject ALLSAINTS with the attitude that I first loved it for; looking to strengthen the ‘newness’ of designs but evolving a mature look. He also gives a nice synergy to the menswear and womenswear lines that was perhaps previously absent. My favourite outfit from the event was a beautifully soft pleated leather mini skirt in forest green, paired with wool biker jacket and cream sweater. In addition I was a big fan of the slim cut aviator style pants and the sturdy outerwear for women.
Accessories have also been developed within this new collection. A series of chunky silver chain and leather necklaces and bracelets complement the new styles perfectly. I’ve never considered ALLSAINTS as a place to purchase accessories but I can see this changing. The weight of the new pieces lend a certain gravitas to the collection.
As I mentioned before menswear follows the same direction as womenswear – a more rounded look; less grungy and distressed than the ALLSAINTS of the past. Light wool long coats, sharp leather jackets and tailoring. Both lines are polished. This is a collection to watch out for later this year.
