Let me introduce you, Blog Reader, to Madison Marcus. One of my most exciting fashion finds so far here in the US, I’m drawn to this label for its blend of grown-up femininity and playfulness. Madison Marcus is quite an established brand, with collections running back to 2006. I first featured them on the blog back in January, styling this blouse from their fall 2011 line. Designer Jessica Sturman manages to keep the label very fresh each season, never straying too far from ultra-feminine silhouettes and a lovely attention to detail. I’m particularly excited about their fall 2012 collection; a mix of bold colour (aquamarine, cerulean blue and crimson), geometric prints, stripes and shimmer.
However, back in Austin it’s sunny springtime and this scalloped hem short dress is perfect for my day. Made from silk, with lovely open back detail (I’ll be sure to take more photos of the dress in NYC and introduce you properly to more of Jessica Sturman’s designs, Blog Reader) and bustier style it’s already a firm holiday favourite.
You can buy Madison Marcus in many stores across New York City (Bloomingdales stock the line, who also ship internationally) and from several online boutiques, including Shopbop. A full list of stockists can be found on the Madison Marcus website.
See you back in NYC at the weekend, Blog Reader!
P.s. These photos show the beginning of a tan. Honestly.

Very nice dress! OMG I want summer so bad !
In NYC too it does need to hurry up! x
I love the top of this dress: it’s very lingerie-like, and therefore perfect for you! xx
Good point I hadn’t thought about that before but I can see what you mean! Hope you’re well Anne, see you back in NYC!
so cute! I love the simplicity of the dress but the little added scalloped edges!
Cool Brick Wall
Haha! Just as well I know you love my style Bee Bop! Choosing the wall actually took a while…
Such a sweet & feminine dress – I love the details here! I have a Madison Marcus blouse that I bought on clearance from Last Call Neiman Marcus & it is a classic I will have for years to come!
Oo interesting! Did you blog the blouse? If so send me a link! x
Beautiful dress!
Hi Bente – thank you!

Gorgeous dress! I love the silhouette. Loving your tan
Yeah I am still working on that one lol.
Oooh, such a sweet dress! I would have guessed it was cotton from the looks of it, but I like it more that it’s silk! Just gorgeous!
The silk feels good against the skin as well as giving it a little more of a ‘chic’ feel. I’m going to post again on Madison Marcus soon – you’ll have to let me know if you like what you see then, too.
What a fun dress! So spring
scalloped bottom is so cute!

Stay in the Lines
Interesting that you say that because I have some scalloped hem shorts that also get a lot of wear…!
What a pretty, playful dress, Sarah! The scalloped hem is absolutely darling. I don’t know much about Madison Marcus, although I had heard of it. This post has definitely inspired me to do some further investigation!
xox,
Cee
Cee I can definitely see you in some of their pieces. Do let me know what you think!
Great blog post! The dress allows you to add your own style making the one wearing it unique. Checked out the entire Madison Marcus website, along with collections, and agree with your take on the line. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Marlon – I wore this dress both day and night on vacation, in the day time just simple with a few accessories and at night time with a little blazer and some high heels. I’m hoping to post about Madison Marcus again in the near future so watch this space!
We totally get what you mean. Our designer for BLANDON focuses on creating the garment that takes you from work and meetings to dinner and a night out with great company. By adding your own accessories, applicable to either day or night, a dress like the one you wore or one from BLANDON (smile), can get you through your entire day looking chic. Looking forward to more of your posts!
beautiful dress & nice tan! my skin tone is just as fair, so I know what a challenge it can be to get a little color

Adri
Hi Adri I had a fabulous time in Austin, it’s such a great place to escape too after the hustle and bustle of NYC. For the tan I might have to resort to the bottle for summer, if you find a good beach though, let me know….!
ha ha…so i see we have the same tan! =) you are such a classic beauty! loving that dress.
xoxo, jenn
the stylish housewife
Jenn you’d laugh as the lifeguard at the pool I was bathing at all week even asked me how come I was so pale lol. I got a few freckles but not much else, such is life!
That dress seems to agree with you, you make it look so classy and feminine! Love the cheeky bustier too
It is a cheeky detail isn’t it – the embroidery detail around the bust is also quite cute too. Thanks for stopping by! xo
Love how delicate that dress looks. It’s so innocent, yet is has a bustier? It just works. Perfect Spring ensemble, and your hair is looking top form!
