New York Fashion Week AW14/15 Series: DKNY
11th February 2014
DKNY is a designer I will go to for the sort of capsule closet-wear in monochrome that will take you effortlessly from work to evening. Not only that, but DKNY always produce a wonderful mix of urban-cool and mature designs from which most New Yorkers (and this Brit over here) can find something to love.
In this, their #25yearsstrong collection, AW14 was both old school and new school, chic with street… sick to slick. Certainly the progression along the catwalk from urban styles such as parkas and puffer jackets to floral cut lace dresses (an unexpected twist) and grey marl three-piece trouser suit demonstrated this.
The collection remained heavy on black but with navy and shades of wine, a splash of neon and light grey. There was a complete ‘mash-up’ of styles (intended by the designer) but standouts were the previously mentioned three-piece suit and I really liked the liquid-look dresses with spaghetti straps too. Here’s to the next 25 years, DKNY!
