I recently stumbled across Hatsumi’s Laundry on instagram – a delightful and highly covetable Australian lingerie label selling a capsule collection of soft cup bras and briefs.  In an interview with Kester Black blog, designer Jemma Aickin described how she turned her hand to lingerie when she was quite simply; ‘bored’ and having trouble finding undergarments that she really loved:

“I love soft cup bras but they can be hard to come by. So one day when I had nothing better to do I started making some of my own things and it just went from there! I am basically self-taught, I have never studied, but learnt how to sew when I was young and have done a few short courses along the way. I have a patternmaker & a local manufacturer working for me now, but I still do as much as I can myself.”

As with another designer I have much love and respect for, Gabrielle of Hopeless Lingerie, who instagrams her design inspirations on a daily basis, Hatsumi’s Laundry’s tumblr is a veritable feast of Aickin’s influences, from muses such as Kate Moss to everything in monochrome (you can see why this brand is right up my street) along with inspiring aesthetics.  With collections FlowerBed Blackout and Cloud Chamber - many pieces from which are already sold out – you have designs that are delicately soft as well as chic.

Friday Lingerie: Lascivious SS14

Lascivious StyleOnTheCouch

LascivousOne of my most loved and hence written about lingerie brands Lascivious recently released their SS14 collectionReminiscent of 1960s Playboy shoots and the ‘summer of love’, Lascivious have created feminine styles with a vintage feel, yet still in keeping with the brand’s artistic tastes:

“Floral embroidery is combined with signature cut-outs, and powdery pastel, ivory and mint ranges are given weight with classic black and rich purple pairings. Light, flirty shapes are combined with subtle nods to the brand’s more erotic aesthetic, producing a balanced offering of lingerie pieces which allows individual interpretation:

The Liana range (featured above) is my favourite from the new collection:

“This sexy range combines a pop of sea-bright mint jersey overlaid with a delicate black circle lace and finished with a scalloped trim to create a modern, feminine collection of luxury lingerie.”

The provocative Liana suspender, featuring curved cut-outs on the hips, fastens around the neck and extends down the front over the bust to a waist band which highlights your narrowest point.  It is an intricate and alluring shape that works alone or sits beautifully with the rest of the Liana lingerie range.  If you choose just one piece from SS14, this should be top of your list.

The luxe and very pretty Lucy range features a long-line bra, cut-out basque and a gorgeous selection of different brief options. Utilising an unusual embroidered, 60s-style floral lace,

Excitingly, this season Lascivious have collaborated with some Friday Lingerie faithfuls such as Marika Vera in a series of unique departures from their signature styles.  Of these I am more interested in the unique and artisan designs by William Wilde -  a latex pencil skirt, bolero jacket and neck-bow – the skirt being the  ultimate celebration of the female form, hugging and caressing every curve.

Lascivious Flower Skirt

Finally, Lascivious’ Flower skirt is a perfect addition to this summer range.  With its bubble-hem, skater style and delicately embroidered with super pretty aqua coloured flowers and beaded appliquéd floral embellishment, it is heavy enough to offer coverage on a breezy summers day and will make a gorgeous addition to any wardrobe.

Head over to Lascivious to see more of their new SS14 collection.

When it comes to my everyday lingerie favourites, BeMe New York are high at the top of my list of go to bras and briefs that provide the perfect seamless look underneath clothing without compromising on support and style.

With their ‘Invisiblescollection we see lingerie that is functional at heart but sexy by design.  These intimates allow you relax at home, sleep, or workout in comfort whilst empowering your femininity.

My favourite collection, ‘Essentuals‘, is a delightfully modern collection of simple lingerie essentials.  The wire-free light push up bra is my t-shirt bra of choice, as it has a natural look with a little push, plus great support and no wires so it appears as seamless under clothing.

Finally, for a lace and cotton mix, try ‘Rough & Tumble‘ – combining fine European lace and New York love.  The french knicker and racer-back bra are all kinds of perfect.

Not forgetting the wonderful potential for lingerie as a gift, BeMe have several options for the gift-giver. I love this ‘Relax Set‘ – containing a tank and boxer brief wrapped up in a in a fine black sheer bag with silk ribbons.  The Rough & Tumble bralette and bikini brief in the new colourway wild orchid make lovely gifts.

BeMe also recently partnered with ‘Free the Girls‘ for international women’s day, an organization providing employment to women rescued from sex trafficking.  You can donate a bra and help provide job opportunities for survivors around the world.

I’m very excited to announced that BeMe New York are offering StyleOnTheCouch readers an exclusive discount.  Enter the code STYLE20 at checkout for 20% off purchases.  The code expires on the 2nd of May 2014 - get in there quick!
