The Voyeur Harness and Bordelle Autumn Winter 12/13

A slightly different Friday feature for you this week, Blog Reader: both a lingerie feature and an outfit post.  During my last trip home to London I had the opportunity to once again pay a visit to the fantastic creative team at Bordelle.  This Friday feature focusses on their stunning new autumn winter 12/13 collection, inspired by the movies of David Lynch, specifically the surreal ‘Blue Velvet’ with all its dreamy imagery.

Bordelle’s new autumn winter 12/13 is rich in film noir shades (black and neutrals), punctuated with (what else but) velvety purple and deep red.  Some of my favourites from the new line are the Blue Velvet Justine Plunge Bra and Velvet Odile knicker which make a wonderful everyday set with a little opulence.

Above: the Voyeur Angela dress, this season’s take on Bordelle’s signature classic.

Within this new fashion forward lingerie collection are several pieces that can be worn as outerwear.  Their Voyeur Harness is a spectacular body accessory that Bordelle introduced me to during my very first visit to their HQ – I loved the style so much I put in my order there and then.

I’ve been wearing the harness over the simplest dresses and plain tees.  Created from satin elastic panelling, the shoulder pads give this piece great structure.  It is fully adjustable at the front, back and sides – and along the sides run bold, gold plated rings.  You can wear the harness two ways (in the style I am showing here, the front is technically the back of the harness but I prefer the emphasis on the back with the ring design).  The harness is a perfect accompaniment to Bordelle’s floor sweeping Isabella gown, below:

Other favourites from the new collection are the Voyeur suspender, a body contouring piece with two oversized gold rings at the sides and the masterpiece that is the Tutu waspie – a girdle with satin elastic panelling and tulle peplum overlay.  This ability to create truly fashion forward lingerie, to continually innovate and evolve signature designs is one of the reasons I like Bordelle so much.

Provocative, dominant and highly sexy – I said before I feel that Bordelle encourage you to bring out your assertive inner goddess and this new collection is no exception.  You can see the full range on the Bordelle site here.

Very unique style! The back of the bordelle looks so cute with the circle rings. Seeing your dress makes me want to buy a long black dress now :) I have a knee length one, but I want a nice long black one!

Adri this BCBG dress is a staple in my wardrobe – I have it in different colours too. Check out their site as they often have sales, you might find a good style for you. Let me know!

Sarah, you are without a doubt the only person I know who could wear a harness in public and make it looks stylish, rather than simply bizarre. It never ceases to amaze and inspire me :) I don’t know that I’ll be adding any pieces from Bordelle’s collections to my daily outfits just yet, but you do have me pondering the possibilities, I admit!

There is definitely something about the strength of the harness design and the softer femininity of the long dress that is a combination that I love. It’s something about contradictions but I can’t quite put my finger on it. I just heard that Bordelle have a swim collection in the near future, so that’s something I’m excited about!

I think the harness requires a degree of confidence but I think it works if you keep the rest of the styling simple. I saw some studs and print on your blog today – I think you’re quite comfortable with bold, Josie :-)

I have something sort of similar but I’m always too embarrassed to wear it out in public. I did once and decided never again. Oh the looks I got! So I’m happy to see that a harness can be worn in a way that looks classy and stylish. I love your look with the long black dress. Nice.

Merci Michelle – it’s a lovely bold design and I adore the style. I mainly wear it with simple clothes like the long black dress and white shirts but it had great impact and I always get a few questions about where it’s from!

Woohoo! I’ve been waiting on this piece for a while. Absolutely love Bordelle, though I only have a couple of the smaller pieces. Hope to own an Angela dress some day, when I get a bit richer. Definitely loving the harness (my next big purchase will be a chest harness, considering my options atm), may add to my wish-list.

Seriously my Angela dress was such a great gift. I also have a Bordelle waspie which is very versatile. Do tweet me if you see any harness options you want to discuss or share with me, always great to hear about new styles too!
