I first came across Tanesha’s blog Girl With Curves when my Twitter friend Terry re-posted some of her outfits on the ‘blogger fashion’ page of his tumblr. A gorgeous mix of fashion, beauty and even the chance to shop her style, Tanesha’s blog has been featured on Vogue India, Marie Claire and Stylelist, amongst others.
The overall aesthetic of Girl With Curves is feminine and classic. I adore how Tanesha sets herself fashion ‘challenges’ such as ‘Runway to My Way‘ where she picks a particular trend and adapts this to suit her own style. She’s passionate about dressing for her shape (all my fashion disasters happen when I disobey this very important rule) and she addresses some very important issues for curly hair which of course I am addicted to. She’s absolutely gorgeous and radiates off the page – she’s a great style inspiration.
I asked Tanesha some questions about herself and her blogging life:
Question: Who or what influenced your eye for fashion, and how would you describe your style?
Classic, with a touch of trendy. I think my love for fashion started with my Grandmother, who was alway dressed to the nines, no matter where she was going.
Question: Why did you begin to write “Girl With Curves”?
I needed a creative outlet outside my full-time tech job, and I love fashion and writing, so my hubby suggested I start a blog. At the time, I didn’t even know what blogging was!
Question: What do you think are some of the best sources on the Web to find style inspiration?
Blogs of course! I think that seeing a real person you can relate to, serves as better inspiration that the runway, because there is only one type of beauty that walks the runway, while the public at large is so much more diverse.
Question: What item of clothing or accessory are you coveting right now?
Right now, I have my eye on the Celine Luggage Tote- it’s an amazing bag that will never go out of style.
Question: Looking back on how you learned and grew as a blogger, what advice do you have for aspiring fashion/style bloggers?
No matter the circumstance- little time, no educational background in the subject, etc., whatever the challenge may be, do what you love, and do it passionately.
Question: Tell me a secret…
I don’t have any, I’m way too open!
