‘Tis the Season…

So it’s December and y’all got me thinking about party dresses.  I’m all set with my Cecile halter maxi, I bought this dress in the Black Friday sale at Reiss where I was drawn to the print. Really I own so few prints and this lace effect pattern had me.  It flows perfectly when I walk and has quite a dramatic thigh high side split – although this tends to be masked by the way that the fabric folds over I do love a bit of drama with my outfits!

Another detail of the dress I adore is the low back:

So with the party season upon us, I’ve put together my favourite party dresses for you, Blog Reader.  A little inspiration for any purchases you might be making this month.  One is perhaps more realistic, one is my dream list (although I discovered you can rent the shorter version of the Tibi odette dress from Rent The Runway, which is exciting!)

‘Tis the season to dress glamorously:

And for those with unlimited budgets:

If you’re interested in finding out more about the dresses above, here are the links:
ASOS tutu dress; Urban Outfitters KVT dress; Reiss Elenor dress; Whistles Daphne knot jumpsuit.
Oscar de la Renta organza strapless gown; Isoude gown; Jenny Packham dress from her Cruise collection; Tibi Odette applique strapless dress.

Where are you looking for party dresses this month, Blog Reader? Seen any to-die-for dresses I should know about??

I’m wearing: Reiss Cecile dress.  Silver shoes from Faith.

Posts like this one make me wish I had more festive parties to attend… Maybe I can find a way to work some of these dresses (the budget ones, of course!) into my everyday wardrobe? Your Reiss dress is an absolute gem, and it fits you like a glove; it looks like it was designed with you in mind!

You look truly stunning in your dress. What an elegant design and a lovely pattern. I adore that neckline too… been wanting shirts and dresses with this same style. I also love the ASOS dress and the Oscar de la Renta! You have fantastic taste.

Ooh – love your dress, Sarah! I went shopping for party dresses this weekend, and it was so much harder than I thought it would be. There are so many ugly dresses out there! Fortunately, I ended up finding a beautiful black strapless dress trimmed in velvet by Rachel Zoe, and it was 60% off. Very proud of myself. :)

oh my! the black feather oscar de la renta looks just like a “bcbg maxazria” that i bought for a holiday party in 2003!!! it was before bcbg max became a household name in the US! because of my bulimic weight fluctuations, it’s much too large on me now! thank you for reminding me about its presence in my wardrobe! i shall take it to my seamstress this week!!! thank you for the idea!!! xxx

    Your Reiss dress is stunning!
I got a couple of dresses at the end of the holiday season last year so I am all set for this year (though it doesn’t seem like we will be going to a lot of parties, but that’s OK).

Gorgeous dress! I think your waist might be even slimmer (if that were possible) and I love the pattern! The party dress recs are fab too. Love the beige Reiss number :)

So this is the famous Reiss dress you mentioned… I LOVE it! The pattern is subtle and elegant and the cut fits you perfectly. Will have a look at the others you posted (though I like to touch and try on :))

I really am beginning to think that maxi dresses, skirts, well err anything maxi was designed for you. You pull of maxis so well. I really enjoy the pattern on this dress, and it looks a really good cut. Nothing like a spot of Reiss! xx
