Friday Lingerie Lust: Fortnight Lingerie

The bodysuit is perhaps one of my favourite pieces of lingerie, I own several and wear them as outwear as well as underwear depending on how I can style the design.  I came across the most breathtakingly simple and sumptuous label recently – Fortnight Lingerie – and I was very impressed by the way they combine clean lines with modern, luxe fabrics and a hint of retro styling in their collection.

I adore their bodysuits – deceptively simple but highly tailored with super sexy aesthetics – Canadian based Fortnight is one of my most coveted brands right now.

One of my favourite pieces in the 2012 collection is the Mary Jane bodysuit (above).  Intriguingly subtitled with phrases that portray the mood of each piece (for Mary Jane: “You never slow down, you never grow old“) the 2012 line is a beautiful assortment of romantic, dreamy bodysuits, dresses and bra and brief sets.

A little Q&A with design team Christina Remenyi & Addie Chown:

How did the idea for Fortnight Lingerie come about?
Canadian designer Christina Remenyi launched Fortnight Lingerie in February 2010 with an eleven Piece Collection as a reaction to the limited variety and sizes that were available in the lingerie market. The focus was, and continues to be about the blissful merger of fashion and functionality in lingerie. The Fortnight motto; smart can be sexy when it comes to your underthings.
Where do you look to, for inspiration?
For the 2012 Collection we were inspired by the muses of classic rock. The music and the muses behind the songs inspired us to create beautiful carefree, run away-and-follow-your-dream designs. We were so influenced by these rock goddesses that we named our new collection after them: Wendy, Jolene, Angie, Lola, Ruby, Ophelia, and Mary Jane.
Who is the “Fortnight” woman?
Fortnight is lingerie for the free-spirited, for women who love luxury, embrace fashion and appreciate quality in every aspect of their lives.
What is your favourite piece from the 2012 collection, and why?
As the designers, we love our entire collection… we feel the colours and designs really meld as a complete collection.  However, one of the pieces we’re most excited about the Angie & Lola Soft Cup. The Soft Cup is a brand new design this year.  Like our very successful Long Line pattern, the Soft Cup is a lite supporting bra that is highly tailored in its construction.

The great thing about Fortnight is that they create their pieces in a wide range of sizes – 30-38, A-E.  For a list of stockists please click here.

Finally, a little video from the clever folks behind Fortnight, who clearly have a fabulous sense of humour it just makes me adore them even more.  Take a look:

I have to admit, I’m always fall a bit harder for a beautiful (and clever!) line of clothing, or lingerie as the case may be, when it comes from my home country. The Fortnight designs are deceptively simple but also stunning… As I type this, I have another tab open, google searching where I can find their wares in Vancouver!

I love how the bodysuits have a bra clasp in the back for added support especially for those who need it :) so often bodysuits require something underneath to keep the girls in place.
Good call FordNight. Also I love the thick bands on the bras it reminds me of a sports bra, and I feel like it would prevent that back bulge that can happen sometimes when straps are too thin.

    much love,
