StyleOnTheCouch Loves: Preen.

Very rarely do I pay attention to the Resort Collections.  I think the label “cruise wear” always put me off, along with fabrics that only appear to be suitable for wear during one month of the year in London.  That and the cost, naturally.

Yet with the warmer summer in NYC I’ve been browsing the recent “cruise wear” for some inspiration.  Preen immediately caught my eye (although I don’t think they label their collection as “Resort” any longer and refer to it as “Spring 2012″; creating four collections a year, corresponding with the seasons).

I’ve talked about Preen on the blog before – their power dress hangs in my wardrobe – and I love the smart modernity that is created by designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi.  I want the whole Resort 2012 Collection and I want it right now.  My favourite styles are the first and last images here.  As I started writing this post I saw that Vogue London tweeted about this collection as one-to-watch.  I wholeheartedly agree.  You can read the full article here.  Any ‘Resort’ collections grabbing your attention right now, Blog Reader?  Do you love Preen as much as I do?

I wear the power dress often, it’s my go to black dress for special occasions. The fit is perfect, too. I bought it in the Liberty London sale, had my eye on it for AGES and got a bargain price. I featured it on the blog way back, but I might feature it again over the summer as I expect it will get a few wears!! xx

I totally agree doing cruise collections in Sweden is the same you either had to travel somewhere or move to NYC. I’m totally in love it too!

I loved their use of colour on the oriental influences this season. I dread to think of the price, but I’ll certainly be looking for cheaper alternatives in the same colours and styles, for sure.

I totally agree. I hope Preen have a sample sale sometime in the future where I find it in my size for very little money at all. Or that is what I am dreaming of, anyway……. !!

Love the first dress too! It’s simple yet structured architecture, the mix of fabrics and the raspberry color really make for a timeless and classy look.
About Cruise shows, I have to admit I don’t pay attention to them either. They kind of take away all the excitement I had in waiting to see what brands were up to next because cruise makes new collections so commonplace now! I have rarely been wowed by what these “seasons” had to offer.
